JCAians not yet ready for 1st quarter exams

"Oh? Exam na pala?"

This is the prevailing response of JCAians when asked about the First Periodical Exams on August 10 - 12.

With a few days left before the quarterlies and projects stuffing their tight schedule, JCAians are still having problems managing their time.

"Di pa ako nagrereview kase hirap mag-manage ng time," junior Hena Ibatuan told In and Out.

The upcoming entrance exams spell double trouble for fourth year students, especially those who are in the thick of preparations for the University of the Philippines College Admissions Test on August 7 and 8.

"I'm striving to make my dream come true," said Alexandra Jessica Esponga of IV-Victorious. "That's why I have high hopes."

Populasyon ng JCA, bumaba ng 0.3%

Patuloy na bumababa ang kabuuang populasyon ng JCA habang umangat naman ng kaunti ang sa High School Department, ayon sa dokumentong inilabas ng JCA Office.

Nabawasan ng 0.3% ang populasyon ng paaralan mula 645 noong nakaraang taon tungo sa 643 ngayon.

Kapansin-pansin naman ang pagkalagas ng 19 mag-aaral mula sa Grade School Department, na ngayon ay 323 na lamang mula sa 341 noong 2009 - 2010.

Ayon kay School Steward Gng. Cynthia Genon, nababahala sila sa pagbaba ng bilang ng estudyante.

Ngunit sa kabila nito, naniniwala pa rin sila na kakayanin ng JCA ang pagsubok na ito.

Jingle Writing Contest

Back on track

After being scrapped last year from the Nutrition Month celebration, the Jingle Writing Contest is now back on track.

Group contestants from the different year levels have prepared their handmade instruments and wrote their compositions about the theme "Sa pagkaing tama at sapat, wastong timbang ni baby ang katapat."

Contestants are not too giddy about the tilt but rather, anxiety among students is building up.

"Nagcra-cram kami e," said IV-Victorious president Ima de Leon. "Kinakabahan kami."

Third year students, on the other hand, are all ready for the competition, according to Patricia Dioquino of III-Great.

"Okay na kami. Ready na yung song namin."

Practices and rehearsals are ongoing at presstime as contestants make a last-ditch effort to claim this year's top prize during the Nutrition Month culminating program at 2 p.m. today.

Pagtutunggali at pagtatanghal ang magaganap sa buwan ng Agosto sa pangunguna ng SAMAKA Club.

Ayon kina Gng. Chitte Magsaysay at Gng. Marife Jagto, ang mga club moderator ng grupo, magkakaroon sila ng sunud-sunod na programa ukol sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika.

"Ginagawa namin ito para sa paghasa ng talento ng mga mag-aaral sa iba't-ibang larangan at paglabas ng potensyal para sa Filipino at sa Araling Panlipunan naman ay para malaman ang kasaysayan ng mundo," ani Gng. Magsaysay.

Sa unang linggo, magkakaroon ng Quiz Bee. Pag-awit at talumpati naman sa ikalawang linggo habang katutubong sayaw remix ang patimpalak sa ikatlong linggo.

Ang mga magwawagi sa mga nasabing kumpetisyon ay pararangalan sa pagtatapos ng buwan.

PEP talks about teens' probs

Only a few parents attended the Parents Education Program (PEP), July 28 at the JCA Evangel Hall.

High School Chaplain Allen Elefano lead the program and discussed about the different personalities and interests of a teenager.

"Parents of high school students should understand more their teenagers for them to excel or do better in their academic performance. Parents should also be involved," she said.

He added that the program was to inform the parents on what their child is doing nowadays and to give more attention to them.

The next PEP sessions will be on August 13 and 25.

Tatlong cellphone at isang make-up kit ang nakumpiska kahapon sa isinagawang raid ng Supreme Student Government.

"To eliminate law-breakers" ang isinusulong ng SSG ngayon sa pangunguna ni Pangulong Danielle Nakpil at Ryan Lazo, Peace Officer.

"Kaunti lang yung nahuli and I'm sure marami pang naitatago based sa information na dumarating sa amin," wika ni SSG adviser Josiah Israel Albelda. "But we'll do our best to enforce the law of the school."

Ayon sa rekord, kinilala ang mga nahulihan na sila Angeline Vinuya, Camille Yboa ng IV-Glorious at Christian Orduña ng III-Great at Chena Gonzales ng III-Mighty.

"This is now all about us."

That was what Supreme Student Government (SSG) President Danielle Nakpil said in her inauguration speech, July 7 at the JCSGO Seed Dome, in front of all high school students, faculty members and guests.

The newly-elected Chief Executive delivered a heartwarming and encouraging speech as she finally took her rightful place as the JCAians' leader.

She talked about how she is like any other student, who still wakes up early in the morning for school, falls in line when buying food at the canteen and walks, talks, eats and laughs like a normal human being.

"I am one of you," she said.

Nevertheless, she chose to step out of her comfort zone and asked God to use her.

Now, the SSG President is asking for the JCAians' help to walk the road to progress.

"This is not and would never be a one-man team," she uttered.

President Nakpil is expecting JCA students to work hand-in-hand, to break down walls and go beyond limits.

Kibbutz say no to borrowing of utensils

Spoons and forks from the Kibbutz are not allowed to be borrowed anymore.

The school canteen is not being unreasonable. Ignite got the story behind this silverware fiasco.

According to Kibbutz head Gina Dalmao, only those students who have their own "baon" and therefore do not buy food from the canteen are prohibited from borrowing these utensils.

For what reason? Dalmao confirmed that it is not about students bringing their silverware home but because they want to prioritize their customers first.

Students who have their "baon" and borrow the canteen's spoons and forks oftentimes use all these up and thus, none is left for their customers.

Canteen staffers find it a big hassle because instead of being at the counter or cooking in the kitchen, they would have to go wash the used-up silverware fore their customers to use.

Dalmao added that "Kung may baon sila, dapat may dala din silang spoon and fork. Hindi din naman pwedeng kulang-kulang."

And for those who are still unable to bring their utensils, Kibbutz is offering a pair of spoon and fork for only Php 1.00.

That settles it. Those who have "baon" should bring their own eating utensils. The canteen's spoons and forks are reserved for their customers only. And it doesn't mean that they would want to cause your inconvenience - they are just concerned about their customers' well-being.

Patuloy ang panggugulat ng mga taga-Kibbutz sa JCAians nang ipatupad ang isang polisiya kung saan ang pisong sukli mo ay pinapalitan ng isang pirasong candy.

"Bakit candy?" yan ang tanong na bumabagabag sa mga mag-aaral ng JCSGO Christian Academy.

Humingi ng tulong ang ilang mag-aaral sa Supreme Student Government (SSG) at ipinangako naman ng huli na titignan nila kung anong aksyon ang maaaring ibigay sa isyung ito.

"Pag-aaralan namin ito," ani Pangulong Danielle Nakpil. "Magbibigay kami ng mga suhestyon para malunasan ang ganitong problema."

Sa ngayon, kailangan munang magtiis ng JCAians sa kakaibang polisiyang ipinatutupad ng Kibbutz.

"Pwede ko bang ibayad sa jeep ang candy?" hindi-makapinawalang tanong ni Jonas Velez ng IV-Victorious.

Ayon naman kay Gina Dalmao, pinuno ng Kibbutz, ini-export sa ibang bansa ang mga barya kaya nauubusan nila ng piso.

"Talaga lang ah?" sabi ni Junie Peteros, na isa ring senior student.

UPDATE: Pumapayag ang Kibbutz na ipagpalit ang candy sa piso pag gagamiting pambili. Ito ay lubos na ikinatuwa ng mga mag-aaral.
