Feature: The Natural

Lion on the Spot: Kenneth Fuentes
The Natural

By Billie Anne Formalejo

On the 29th of May 1994, Kenneth Adrian Louise Fuentes was born and now, this sixteen year old guy is definitely on his way to greatness.

Fuentes is currently a point guard in JCSGO’s Roaring Lions. “He’s a natural point guard,” expressed Mr. Darwin dela Torre, the team’s coach.

Kenneth’s hobbies are playing basketball and the game called, “CHARGE!” His humor came out when he stated that he wants to become a world champion on that game.

Though he is basketball player, his dream is to finish college at Ateneo de Manila University and become a Physics teacher. His dream proves that he has more than just good looks.

This natural point guard does not have his apple of the eye right now but he is looking for a cute, understanding, pretty, jolly, chubby and kind girl.

So better apply now before he finds one. I'm now in line.

Out of Kuya's Shadows

Lion on the Spot: Michael Santos

Out of Kuya's Shadows

By Alexandra Jessica Esponga

Barely two years after former team captain JF Santos carried the JCA Doves to greater heights, his younger brother is already considered the future of the team, hoping that he would also let history repeat itself.

Michael Vincent BorgoƱia Santos was born on the 16th of October, 1996. He is third amongst six siblings and freshman from section Marvelous.

This rookie desires to take up Hotel and Restaurant Management at Far Eastern University and aspires to be a famous hoops star someday.

“In order for you to be successful, you have to study hard and that’s what I’m going to do,” Michael told In and Out.

Besides basketball, he also loves Math, Araling Panlipunan and Filipino. Indeed, pressure is no match for this young boy as he knows how to handle his time well, getting all his inspirations from those who shared and taught him about life’s meaningfulness.

“Sa kanila nanggaling and galing ko,” he said with full humility. “I get my strength from their encouragements, lalo na sa pamilya ko.”

The activity, sponsored by the Supreme Student Government and supported by the Sports Club, the High School Department and the Grade School Department, will likewise serve as a pep rally for JCA's varsity teams, which will compete in the upcoming Season 4 of the Quezon City Athletic Association.

The JCA Roaring Cubs grade school varsity, mentored by coach Janmarck Fuerte, will meet a High School Freshman-Sophomore selection at 3:15 p.m. while the JCA Roaring Cubs high school varsity, under coach Darwin dela Torre, will lock horns with the retooled FaculTech Black Hawks at 4:15 p.m.

The new-look FaculTech Black Hawks and the rechristened JCA Roaring Lions (formerly the Doves) rekindle their rivalry Wednesday next week in this school year's first exhibition match between the squads.

The high school varsity team, mentored by Physical Education teacher Darwin dela Torre, faces off with the crew made up of teachers, technical staff and some guest players at the JCSGO Seed Dome in the start of a series of matches that will go throughout the year.

Likewise, the game will serve as a tune-up for the Roaring Lions, who are set to make waves in the upcoming Quezon City Athletic Association hoops wars, which kicks off August 14.

Game time is at 4:15 pm to be preceded by a battle between the JCA Roaring Cubs (grade school varsity) and a Freshman-Sophomore selection at 3:15 pm.

According to Supreme Student Government adviser Josiah Israel Albelda, these games will serve as some sort of "pep rally" for the varsity teams as they hope to erase the stigma of failed seasons past and look forward to a fruitful year for sports in JCA.

Tickets will be sold starting Friday at Php 20.00. For inquiries, look for Sir Dela Torre, Danielle Nakpil, Alexx Esponga and Darah Urbano (High School) and Sir Janmark Fuerte, Danah Pagulayan and Keziah Remojo (Grade School.)

The event is sponsored by the High School SSG, in cooperation with the High School Department, the Grade School Department, and the Sports Club.
